What is different between cream, Lotion & butter
Lotion
Lotion base ingredients are water and oil. Generally lotions are light and non-greasy. Lotions can be used on all skin types and are especially ideal for the summer because the skin can absorb easily.
Cream
The biggest difference between creams and lotions, it is that creams usually have a thicker than lotion consistency. Creams, as lotions, most contain the oil and water. Because there is a little heavier creams lotions, they are often used during the winter months when the skin is drier and may need a bit more moisture. Those who have dry skin may prefer creams types throughout the year as they tend to be more moisturizing.
Body butter
Body butters are more highly moisturizing lotions and creams. They are ideal for those who have very dry skin. Body butters may contain different ingredients, but the most common are the Shea and cocoa butters, who are known for their moisturizing power. Body butters are generally very thick and create a layer on your skin that helps prevent the loss of moisture throughout the day.
Read the labels
Although the body butters, creams and lotions are technically different, there is nothing to legally prevent companies market their moisturizing products as one of the three. Once you have decided what type of product is for you, take care and read the labels. Shea butters, who are often a key ingredient in body butters, contain vitamins A and E, which are known to create a healthier skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, just because a product is called a "body butter" does not mean that it is required to contain these vitamins. So before you buy, decide what ingredients are important to you and take care to read the label.
