Shave the beard in the form appropriate for a goatee

Wash and dry your facial hair, using the beard shampoo. Comb the hair so that it falls perfectly in one direction. Wet hair stretches slightly, to try to cut a goatee while it is wet can cause a scraggly line, uneven.

Look in the mirror with your Chin lifted. Envision two lines on the Chin, on a half inch of hand and side of the corners of your mouth. These lines mark the edges of your goatee. If your goatee is too wide or too narrow, it will look unbalanced and does not properly connect to a moustache.
At this point, decide if you want to keep a mustache. This will not affect the shape of the beard on your chin, but it will determine what you will keep hair and as you shave.

Remove the hairs of your cheeks and Chin with a lawn mower or a razor, leaving hair on the Chin intact and untouched Favorites (if you have). Shave in the direction of the grain, or the growth of your hair since shaving against the grain can pull your skin and cause irritation. You can also leave a quarter inch to half an inch of hair on each side of your mouth band to connect your beard to a moustache.

Shave all the hair from your neck up to two inches behind the tip of the Chin, on the underside of your chin. Your goatee must embrace the underside of the Chin while shaving above that this will create an unbalanced look.

Check the edges of your goatee. Sharp, square edges add definition to a round face, while the rounded edges soften angular characteristics or a square face.

Splash your face with lotion after shave to avoid rash and ingrown hair razor. Maintain your goatee trimming and shaving all the hair two to three times per week.
