Treat a hematoma & swelling after Botox

Botox, also known as botulinum toxin, has a host of uses. It can be used to stop or slow down the formation of wrinkles. It also has therapeutic uses such as the relief of muscle pain of whiplash, reduce muscle spasms of the elbows, wrists and fingers, which are commonplace after a stroke and for excessive sweating in the feet, hands and armpits. After Botox injections, it is possible that a patient will experience a swelling / hematoma, also known as the bruises. These are not uncommon and can be treated at home.

Stop taking over-the-counter medications following and complete at least one week before the injection: vitamin E, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, fish oil, ginseng, ginko, seed of flax, garlic and St. John's wort oil. This will help reduce the incidence of swelling and bruising and can reduce recovery time.

Stop aspirin taken for 10 to 14 days prior to the injection, but make sure to get the approval of your first doctor that the benefits outweigh the risks. Aspirin thins the blood and may exacerbate the bruises.

Take 250 to 500 mg of Bromelain four times a day. Bromelain is an enzyme from pineapple and AIDS minimal bruising in helping proteins digest of body responsible for swelling and bruising.
