Instructions

Cover your hands with rubber gloves to protect your skin against splashes and stains of dyeing.

Fill a large metal pot with 3 litres of water for each 1 of tissue paper you want to dye. If you plan to dye a single blouse and heat the water on the stove to a steady simmer, use 1 gallon of water.

Add 1 tablespoon of mild laundry detergent to the water and stir the pot until the detergent has completely dissolved.

Place the blouse in a sink or tub and turn the hot faucet. Wet blouse so it is tempered throughout. Press or twist the excess water from the blouse. Turn off the faucet and set aside the blouse.

Fill a bowl of medium height with 2 cups of hot water. Add half a bottle of dye liquid or half a packet of dye powder. Reduce the dye in the quarter if you stain a unique blouse.

Shake the solution until it is well mixed, or until the dye powder dissolves. Pour the solution into the pot. Stir the pot of dye for three to five minutes or until it is completely mixed.

Steamed the blouse and put it in the dye bath simmering. Stir the blouse in the bath with a utensil long stirring, such as the spoon of wood, for five minutes.

Add 1 cup of salt in the pot if the blouse is made of rayon, cotton, flax or ramie to promote the same colouring. Add 1 cup of white vinegar if the blouse is made of silk, wool, or nylon.

Constantly stir the dye for 25 to 30 minutes bath or a full hour get a deeper color.

Turn off the burner of the stove. Remove the blouse of the dye bath and place in a sink with hot running water. Rinse the blouse, gradually decrease the temperature of the water, until the water runs clear through the fabric.

Press the excess water from the blouse. Hang the garment to the outside or dry in the dryer. Read the attached blouse garment care label to determine the appropriate setting when using a dryer.
